Raipur. October 4, 2021Chhattisgarh’s new film policy is attracting renowned filmmakers from Mumbai to shoot their films and web-series in Chhattisgarh. Recently, shooting of the web-series ‘Six Suspects’, directed by Mr. Tigmanshu Dhulia and starring Mr. Ashutosh Rana, has started in the state. And now country’s renowned filmmaker Mr. Sudheer Mishra has arrived in the state to shoot his web-series ‘Jahanabad’ in Chhattisgarh. This web series will be available on on ‘Sony Liv’ and ‘Studio Next’. ‘Jahanabad’ will be filmed at various locations in Kanker, Kawardha, Rajnandgaon and Raipur for about two months from the month of November. Local artists and technicians will also get the opportunity to work for this project.It is noteworthy that the new film policy of the state was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel on September 8, 2021. Under the new policy, provisions have been made to attract Bollywood filmmakers, with the aim of strengthening tourism and infrastructure and to help the local filmmakers to produce films here. Chief objective of the new film policy is to make Chhattisgarh a film friendly state, to develop as a central hub for shooting films, to develop employment opportunities for local talent and to encourage investors for film production, as well as to attract investors for film production. Films shot in the state would bring national and international recognition to the cultural places here.Welcoming the new film policy of the state, renowned filmmaker Mr. Sudhir Mishra said that this initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel will help and facilitate the filmmakers to shoot in different locations of this beautiful state. Chhattisgarh has all kinds of locations suitable for film shooting. There are various beautiful views of Raipur and Bilaspur, dense forests, tribal areas, Bhilai Steel Plant, ancient cities and temples. Mr Mishra said that we have selected Chhattisgarh for the shooting our web-series ‘Jahanabad’, which will be aired on ‘Sony Liv’ and ‘Studio Next’. This is a wonderful show written by Mr. Rajeev Barnwal and directed by him and Mr. Satyanshu Singh, starring big and budding actors like Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Rajat Kapoor, Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Ishwak Singh.Advisor to State Planning Commission Mr. Gaurav Dwivedi, who has played an important role in preparing the new film policy of the state, said that Bollywood filmmakers are taking keen interest in the recently announced new film policy of the state and they are coming to Chhattisgarh for shooting. Within a few days of the announcement of the new film policy, shooting of two web series has started in the state. ‘Jahanabad’ will be the second web-series which will be shot in Chhattisgarh. He informed that the producers-directors Mr. Anubhav Sinha, Mr. Anurag Kashyap, Mr. Nikhil Dwivedi, Mr. Ajay Rai and Mrs. Madhu Bhojwani are also exploring possibilities in Chhattisgarh for the shooting of their upcoming films and web-series.
